Why do I knit?
I first started knitting in college, and made a perpetual scarf in acrylic yarn, perpetual until I learned to cast off. I'm not sure why I began, but it was a short lived hobby.
When my first husband died yeas later, I knit a scarf on the long flight to London to his funeral to keep my hands busy and to keep my mind busy.
My grandmother was a prolific knitter. She knit in acrylics. She smoked Virginia Slims. I grew to love her. I received many of her hand knits, much of which I never really appreciated.
I knit because it really does focus me, keeps my mind focused and I produce something that I can lovingly give away.
